In response to threats, risks of transnational surveillance, and acts of intimidation reported within the Burundian diaspora in exile, around twenty Burundian human rights organizations are issuing an urgent appeal to the Belgian authorities to strengthen the protection of Burundian refugees and asylum seekers.
The signatory organizations emphasize that security, freedom of expression, and the right to international protection must be guaranteed without compromise for all individuals who have found refuge in Belgium after fleeing persecution and human rights violations.
