Could this be yet another heinous crime committed against a citizen? The circumstances surrounding this death raise many questions.
A lifeless body was discovered on 12 June 2026 in Cell 5 of Bukirasazi Quarter, Kinama Zone, Ntahangwa Commune, Bujumbura Province.
According to information gathered from the area, the victim was a young woman whose identity remains unknown. No documents or personal belongings that could help identify her were found. Witnesses who discovered the body reported that the victim was not wearing clothing on the lower part of her body. This situation has fueled suspicions that she may have been subjected to sexual violence before being strangled and abandoned at the scene. However, these allegations will need to be confirmed or disproved through investigations and forensic examinations.
Residents of the area suspect that the victim may have been killed elsewhere before her body was transported and dumped in this wooded area of Cell 5, Bukirasazi Quarter. Indeed, no local resident has claimed to know her or to have seen her in the neighborhood before.
The administrative authorities of Kinama Zone were alerted and arrived at the scene accompanied by police officers. They subsequently decided to transfer the body to a morgue.
Local residents expressed shock that the authorities did not widely publicize the discovery of the body in order to allow families searching for missing relatives to come forward and identify the victim. They strongly urge that the woman not be buried before her identity is established and that thorough investigations be conducted to identify and bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice.
