King Umurundi Freedom is raising the alarm over the alleged disappearance of two citizens, BUSO Alexandre<\/strong>, 37, married and father of three, and NTUNZWENIMANA Fabrice<\/strong>, 42, married and father of three.<\/p>

Both men are from Kavumu Hill, Muyira Zone, Mukaza Commune, Bujumbura Province. They are neighbours and live only a short distance from each other. They work as labourers in the construction sector. According to information gathered from their relatives, they were not known to be politically engaged.<\/p>

Circumstances of Their Disappearance<\/strong><\/h3>

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, at around 3:00 p.m., BUSO Alexandre reportedly left his home for Bujumbura city after receiving a phone call from someone who wanted to offer him a job.<\/p>

According to the information gathered, he went to the area commonly known as Kabasazi, in Mutanga Nord, near Lyc\u00e9e Gikungu, where beds are among the items sold. He reportedly met his friend NTUNZWENIMANA Fabrice there at around 6:00 p.m.<\/p>

While the two men were talking, a black double-cab vehicle with tinted windows reportedly arrived at the scene. According to witnesses, the vehicle had no visible registration plate.<\/p>

According to several testimonies, four men in civilian clothes, reportedly identified as intelligence service agents, got out of the vehicle. One of them was allegedly carrying a pistol.<\/p>

The two citizens reportedly attempted to resist their arrest and called for help. The men in civilian clothes allegedly beat them severely, causing injuries and bleeding, before dragging them to the vehicle and forcing them inside.<\/p>

The vehicle then reportedly left Kabasazi towards Mwezi Gisabo Avenue, before continuing towards central Bujumbura, passing notably over the Ntahangwa Bridge.<\/p>

Families Still Without News<\/strong><\/h3>

Since their disappearance, the families of BUSO Alexandre and NTUNZWENIMANA Fabrice have reportedly searched various detention facilities across Bujumbura.<\/p>

They also say they sought information from the National Intelligence Service (SNR). According to their testimonies, they were told that the two men were not being detained there.<\/p>

Their phones have also remained unreachable.<\/p>

One week after their disappearance, their families still have no reliable information about their whereabouts or possible place of detention and are living in great fear and anxiety about their safety and what may have happened to them.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd34 Call on the Authorities<\/strong><\/h3>

In light of this concerning situation, King Umurundi Freedom calls on the competent authorities and security services to take all necessary measures to:<\/p>

  • establish the full truth about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of BUSO Alexandre and NTUNZWENIMANA Fabrice;<\/p><\/li>

  • establish their whereabouts or place of detention, if they are being detained;<\/p><\/li>

  • guarantee their physical integrity, safety and fundamental rights;<\/p><\/li>

  • inform their families of their situation;<\/p><\/li>

  • establish the reasons for and circumstances surrounding their alleged arrest.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    King Umurundi Freedom also calls on the National Independent Human Rights Commission (CNIDH) to urgently follow up on this case, investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the two citizens, and ensure that their fundamental rights are respected.<\/p>
