NIYONKURU Elvis: Where Is He Since His Arrest? His Family Seeks Information
Concerns continue to grow over the whereabouts and fate of NIYONKURU Elvis, 34, who is described as an informant working with the Burundian intelligence services. According to information obtained from sources close to his family, he was reportedly arrested after being questioned about individuals suspected of having links to fighters from the RED-Tabara movement.
To date, his alleged place of detention remains unknown. His family also says it has received no information confirming his current condition or whether he is still alive.

NIYONKURU Elvis is 34 years old. He is originally from Kanyunya, in the former commune of Mukike, and is reportedly currently residing in Kanyosha Zone, Mugere Commune, in Bujumbura Province.
He is married and is reportedly involved in activities as an informant for the intelligence services, particularly in the Musaga area.
The Alleged Circumstances of His Arrest
According to the information available to us, several individuals were reportedly arrested recently and accused of collaborating with fighters from the RED-Tabara movement. Following their arrests, some of them allegedly stated that they had been in contact with NIYONKURU Elvis.
At this stage, we have not yet been able to establish the identities of the individuals who were reportedly arrested, nor independently verify the allegations made against them.
On September 8, 2026, NIYONKURU Elvis was reportedly summoned by the intelligence services for questioning regarding these allegations. Following the questioning, he was allegedly taken away the same day to a location that remains unknown.
Since then, his family says it has had no information about his whereabouts or the conditions under which he may be detained. The lack of information concerning his place of detention and his current condition is a major source of concern for his relatives.
Call for Clarification
NIYONKURU Elvis’s family is calling on the competent authorities to provide information establishing his whereabouts, the precise reasons for his detention, and his current state of health.
They are also calling for his situation to be clarified as soon as possible so that his relatives can be informed of his fate.
