Census workers demand payment of their wages five months after completing their mission

Workers who took part in the Detailed Basic Agricultural Module (Module Agricole de Base Détaillé – MABD), a census operation organized by the Central Census Bureau (BCR – Bureau Central de Recensement), led by Nicolas NDAYISHIMIYE, are denouncing the non-payment of their wages.

According to these workers, the census activities began in July 2025 and were completed in March 2026. At the end of the assignment, they expected to receive their payments. However, they say that, five months after completing the work, they have still not received any remuneration.

The affected workers say they have made repeated inquiries with the BCR to obtain explanations. However, they claim they have not received any satisfactory response, except being told to continue waiting, without any clear payment timeline being provided. They question why the institution launched such an operation without having the necessary resources to pay those who carried out the work.

Faced with this situation, the workers say they are increasingly discouraged and fear losing the money they earned through their efforts. They are calling on the relevant authorities to intervene so that their situation can be addressed and that they receive the payment owed to them as soon as possible.
