Who killed this young boy and abandoned his body in the forest? Why was he murdered?
The body of a young boy was discovered on the evening of 23 June 2026, at around 6:00 p.m., on Nkoto Hill, Taba Zone, Tangara Commune, Butanyerera Province. His identity has not yet been established.
According to those who found the body, the victim was a teenage boy estimated to be between 15 and 17 years old.
Preliminary observations suggest that the perpetrators may have violently assaulted the boy before attempting to slit his throat and subsequently abandoning his body in a forest on the hill.
Witnesses also believe that the murder may have been committed elsewhere before the body was transported and dumped at the location where it was found. This assumption is based on the absence of bloodstains at the scene, suggesting that the body may have been brought there in a sack or another container. Furthermore, none of the local residents who came to the scene were able to identify the victim, reinforcing the possibility that he was not from the area.
According to information gathered, the body was first discovered by children who were in the forest. They immediately alerted local residents, who then informed the authorities.
The Zone Chief visited the scene accompanied by judicial police officers and a government doctor from Ruhoho Communal Hospital. Following the initial examination, it was decided that the body would be transferred to the mortuary of Nyarunazi Health Center, where it remains at the time of writing.
Residents are strongly calling for a comprehensive investigation to establish the identity of the deceased, determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death, and identify those responsible so that they may be brought to justice.
