Alarming Disappearance of CUBWA Eric in Nyanza

A citizen missing since his arrest by intelligence agents

The population of Nyanza commune, in Burunga province, has had no news of CUBWA Eric, also known as Ruwaruwa, since his arrest on the evening of Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Aged 50, married and father of 15 children, CUBWA Eric lives on Bukeye hill in Nyanza commune, Burunga province. According to consistent testimonies collected from his family and local residents, suspected intelligence service agents arrived at his home around 7:00 p.m.

🔶 An arrest carried out under opaque circumstances

According to reported information, the agents arrived in a black double-cabin vehicle with tinted windows and no visible license plates.

After arresting him, they allegedly handcuffed him and forced him into the vehicle, which immediately drove away.

Local sources indicate that the agents involved are believed to be attached to the intelligence service operating in Nyanza commune. However, no official communication has been issued regarding the matter.

🔶 A disappearance causing serious concern for the family

Since his arrest, CUBWA Eric remains missing. His family, relatives, and acquaintances state that they have searched various detention facilities without success.

The lack of official information regarding his place of detention or the reasons for his arrest raises serious concerns about his safety and physical integrity.

In light of this situation, our organization calls on the security authorities to clarify the circumstances surrounding this arrest and to inform the family of the detainee’s whereabouts.

An appeal is also being made to the National Independent Human Rights Commission (CNIDH) to take up the case and ensure that this citizen’s fundamental rights are respected.

Transparency and adherence to legal procedures are essential to maintaining public trust and guaranteeing the protection of human rights.
