Abduction Alert — NIZIGAMA Corinne

Where is NIZIGAMA Corinne?

NIZIGAMA Corinne, a 24-year-old woman from Mirama Hill, Muyira Zone, Kanyosha Commune, Bujumbura Province (commonly known as Bujumbura Rural), has been missing after allegedly being abducted by individuals believed to be members of the National Intelligence Service (Service national de renseignement – SNR), according to information gathered.

On January 8, 2024, after spending the day in the Bujumbura Rural area, she reportedly boarded a vehicle at around 6:00 p.m. to return to her home, where she lived with her older sister in the Gasenyi neighborhood, Gihosha Zone, Ntahangwa Commune, in Bujumbura.

At 8:20 p.m., after getting out of the vehicle at a location known as “Ku Masalon,” she was allegedly intercepted by men who had arrived in a Toyota Ipsum (TI) with tinted windows and registration number B0857A. These individuals, identified as intelligence agents, allegedly seized her by force and compelled her to get into their vehicle before driving away.

According to reported witness accounts, Corinne allegedly tried to call for help by shouting, but no one was able to intervene.

To this day, her whereabouts remain unknown. Her deeply concerned family is calling on the competent authorities to establish the full circumstances of her disappearance, search for the young woman, and provide information about her fate and state of health.

King Umurundi Freedom (KUF-ASBL) echoes this appeal and calls on the National Independent Human Rights Commission (Commission nationale indépendante des droits de l’homme – CNIDH) to take up the case and ensure appropriate follow-up.

🔴 The truth must be established about the circumstances of her disappearance. Anyone deprived of their liberty must be protected against enforced disappearance. Her family has the right to know her fate.
