ALERT – Concerning Disappearance in Bujumbura

A 50-year-old woman, Mrs. NTANDIKIYE Collise, a widow and mother of two, has been reported missing since the evening of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Bujumbura. She is a resident of Kinanira I, in the city of Bujumbura.

A professional in funeral services, she worked daily near the headquarters of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi (BRB). She is not known to have any links to political activities.

On Tuesday, December 9, after finishing her workday, Mrs. NTANDIKIYE was reportedly contacted for a meeting near Intwari Stadium. According to consistent testimonies, a double-cab vehicle without license plates and with tinted windows stopped near her. Individuals identified as intelligence service agents allegedly forcefully intercepted her and took her away.

Since this brutal arrest, no official information has been provided about her place of detention or the reasons for her apprehension. Witnesses say she tried to call for help, unsuccessfully. Her disappearance raises serious concerns about her physical safety and the respect of her fundamental rights.

King Umurundi Freedom Organization calls on the relevant authorities, particularly the CNIDH, to open an urgent and transparent investigation to clarify this disappearance and ensure the victim’s safety.
