A Lifeless Body Found in Kaburantwa: Residents Demand an Investigation
On Friday, 24 October 2025, a dead body was discovered in the late afternoon near the Rusizi River, on Kaburantwa hill, Transversale 6, formerly part of Buganda commune in Cibitoke province. Under the new administrative structure, the location now falls within Buganda Zone, Bukinanyana commune, Bujumbura province.
The victim, a man estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, was found completely naked, with a severe head injury suggesting he had been killed by a violent blow. No identification documents were found on the body, making immediate identification impossible.
Local administrative authorities were alerted and arrived at the scene. They initially proposed a quick burial, a suggestion strongly opposed by the population. Eventually, the body was transferred to the mortuary of Clinique Ubuntu in Buganda to allow for proper identification and facilitate a thorough investigation.
This tragedy adds to a series of similar cases reported in recent weeks across the country, highlighting a worrying increase in bodies being discovered in various localities.
King Umurundi Freedom calls on the competent authorities to conduct a serious and independent investigation to shed full light on this murder, identify the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.
