The lifeless body of a young woman was discovered on the morning of Thursday, October 23, on Mugoboka–Sororezo hill in the Nyakabiga area of Bujumbura. The body was found lying under bushes below a local school commonly referred to as a “college.”
According to initial reports, the victim—whose identity remains unknown—was between 20 and 25 years old. Residents say they do not recognize her, reinforcing the suspicion that she may have been killed elsewhere before being dumped at the scene.
The body showed clear signs of violence: severe head injuries and a completely naked lower body, suggesting rape followed by homicide.
Shaken by the discovery, local residents are demanding an immediate and thorough investigation to establish the facts, identify the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.
The King Umurundi Freedom organization condemns this latest tragedy and calls on the relevant authorities to take swift action in response to the growing wave of violence against women.
