Advocacy With National And International Institutions
King Umurundi Freedom consistently advocates with national and international institutions to promote accountability, transparency, and structural reforms in Burundi. This advocacy is based on credible evidence from our field investigations, reports, and whistleblowing. We use this data to demand policy changes, justice for victims, and institutional accountability at all levels of governance.
At the national level , we collaborate with ministries, parliamentary committees, judicial bodies, and independent institutions to share our findings and formulate concrete recommendations. We advocate for the adoption of laws and policies that strengthen the protection of human rights, combat corruption, and guarantee victims access to justice and reparations. We also work with local civil society organizations to amplify citizens’ voices and ground our advocacy in the lived realities of Burundian communities.
At the international level , we cooperate with regional and global human rights mechanisms—including the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights , the UN Human Rights Council , and partner NGOs—to raise international awareness of local abuses and ensure they are addressed through appropriate diplomatic and legal channels. Our representatives regularly participate in consultations, parallel reports, and special sessions where we present credible evidence of violations and call for concrete follow-up measures.
We believe that lasting change is achieved through strategic dialogue rather than confrontation . This is why King Umurundi Freedom prioritizes constructive relationships with state institutions while maintaining its independence and integrity. Through meetings, policy briefs, public statements, and awareness campaigns , we promote reform, strengthen civic space, and encourage the alignment of Burundi’s governance system with international human rights standards .
Ultimately, our advocacy aims not only to denounce injustice, but to transform institutions , to build a society where power is exercised responsibly and where transparency, fairness and human dignity prevail.
